About The Role We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Healthcare Data Entry Clerk to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. This position is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from any location. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting revenue cycle departments by performing accurate data entry, charge capture, and billing support activities. The role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently to ensure the smooth operation of healthcare billing and coding processes.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Preferably 2 — 3 years of experience working in an office setting
  • Preferably 6 — 12 months of healthcare or data entry experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in using practice management and billing systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry and proofreading
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily activities of Revenue Cycle Departments to ensure efficient operations
  • Facilitate various initiatives related to billing, coding, and claims processing
  • Provide clerical support such as filing, research, and documentation as needed
  • Document productivity metrics for tracking and reporting purposes
  • Compile statistics and generate reports to monitor departmental performance
  • Perform data entry into client’s computer programs for charge capture and encounter reconciliation
  • Review charge forms for quality and completeness according to departmental guidelines
  • Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for routine and repetitive services
  • Identify billable services by reviewing medical record documentation
  • Support follow-up efforts and identify billing issues related to outstanding claims
  • Manage practice management system work queues to review and correct suspended claims
  • Assist in verifying and updating patient registration and insurance information
  • Resolve patient insurance carrier inquiries and disputes through claim review
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology for accurate processing
  • Proofread typed work to ensure error-free submissions
  • Perform additional duties as required to support billing and coding processes
  • Travel may be required based on business needs, including potential weekend and evening shifts
