Key required skills

  • The Senior Engineer API Gateway & Production Support is responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing API gateway solutions, as well as ensuring reliable production operations for business-critical applications.
  • This role works closely with development, operations, and security teams to deliver robust APIs and maintain high service availability.
  • Responsibilities: API Gateway configuration and support for enterprise applications
  • Design, implement, and maintain API gateway configurations (e.g., Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
  • Build secure, scalable, and highly available API infrastructure.
  • Implement policies for authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, and monitoring. – Collaborate with development teams on API lifecycle management, onboarding, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize API traffic handling.
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to API connectivity and latency.
  • Provide L2/L3 support for API gateways and related production environments.
  • Monitor health, performance, and capacity of production systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve incidents, ensuring rapid response and clear communication.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
  • Coordinate deployments, patches, and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures. Security & Compliance: Implement API security best practices and ensure compliance with organizational policies. Schedule regular security reviews, vulnerability assessments, and audits.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: – Communicate effectively with internal teams (Dev, QA, Security, Infra) and external partners. – Participate in architectural reviews and production readiness assessments.

Skills: –

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in API gateway technologies and production support.
  • Strong expertise in API design, management, and security (REST, OAuth2, JWT, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with one or more API gateways: Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, etc.
  • Expert in troubleshooting production incidents in cloud or on-prem environments.
  • Proficiency with automation tools (Python, Shell, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Datadog, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
