Mid-Level Software Engineer – Systems
Requirements
Must have:
– Minimum of 3 years of experience leading embedded software development, verification, or compliance activities. – At least 3 years of experience with RTCA DO-178(B/C) for airborne systems and equipment certification. – Over 5 years of experience in the software development life cycle process. – Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science is preferred. – Experience in software development life cycles, configuration management, and agile practices. – Current Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) certification is a plus. – Strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex engineering challenges. – Proficient in deriving and allocating requirements with traceability throughout the product lifecycle. – Skilled at collecting, organizing, and synthesizing data to make informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers focusing on the certification of aircraft systems and components, prioritizing safety. – Drive process improvement initiatives and collaborate with leadership on setting improvement goals. – Develop specific software certification requirements for suppliers. – Monitor project timelines and performance, ensuring timely delivery of engineering solutions that meet safety milestones. – Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure system definitions convert effectively into software requirements with clear traceability. – Formulate engineering strategies that promote safety and reliability to uphold Boeings quality standards. – Act as the primary contact for FAA representatives, fostering transparent communication during the certification process. – Work closely with the FAA to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards in aircraft design. – Oversee preparation and submission of technical documentation for FAA certification to ensure accuracy and thoroughness. – Mentor engineers and provide guidance on safety protocols and certification processes to promote their growth. – Analyze and resolve engineering challenges with a focus on safety, utilizing data-driven approaches and best practices.
