Job Description:
Minecraft Education Data Scientist
We are looking for a Data Scientist with a drive to achieve high impact, high quality results to join the Mojang Player Data and Insights team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving insights that inform the Minecraft Education strategy. You’ll partner with product and engineering teams to ensure robust reporting on business metrics, make recommendations to optimize business performance, and evaluate impact of programs and initiatives on key metrics. You will develop and lead analysis that identify key drivers of acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Responsibilities
Identify key learnings from analysis and synthesize them into recommendations for stakeholders.
Manage partnerships with Product, Marketing, and other teams to integrate insights into product decisions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop analyses that answer the ‘why’ behind the requests.
Transform complex analyses into compelling, data-driven stories that communicate impact, clarify business trends, and influence strategic decisions across product, marketing, and leadership teams.
Be self-driven and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data.
Work with the Engineering team to build and maintain reporting queries for monitoring business health.
Maintain dashboards in PowerBI that enable stakeholders to understand the business and supporting onboarding to other self-service tools
Manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources using a variety of tools and data analysis techniques.
7 years experience in data analysis, experience in dashboarding, strong stakeholder management skills. Looking for someone with deep analysis and casual inference skills who is used to working with telemetry data. Experience with advanced ML models is less important than statistical knowledge.
Qualifications
5 years of experience in data analytics.
5 years of experience with SQL, bonus if familiar with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer.
2 years of experience with dashboarding tools, PowerBI preferred.
Proficient in Python, bonus if familiar with PySpark.
Able to work in a collaborative, diverse and fast-paced team.
Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills and autonomy when faced with solving data problems.
Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills.
Interest in games, bonus if experience in gaming industry.
Local to Seattle area.
