Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payment Processing Specialist to join our financial operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing payment transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, optimize accounts receivable and payable processes, and support the overall financial health of the organization. Duties

  • Process a high volume of payments, including electronic transfers, checks, and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable entries using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or other financial systems.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting processes and conducting regular audits of payment activities.
  • Manage the revenue cycle by verifying CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, and medical billing details for healthcare-related payments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payment disputes through negotiation and effective communication.
  • Enter data meticulously using 10-key typing skills while adhering to double-entry bookkeeping principles for accurate journal entries.
  • Support governmental and non-profit accounting functions by ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Assist with audit preparations by maintaining detailed records of all transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries related to payments, billing issues, or account status via phone or email with professional phone etiquette.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in accounting or financial services with a focus on payment processing or revenue cycle management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and medical billing processes is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures.
  • Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and account analysis tasks.
  • Ability to perform data entry accurately using 10-key typing with speed and precision.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles along with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills combined with effective phone etiquette for dispute resolution.
  • Ability to interpret financial concepts related to debits & credits, journal entries, bookkeeping, and revenue cycle management.

Pay: $50.00 – $70.00 per hour
