We’re seeking a part-time HR Generalist to support our human resources function. You’ll handle day-to-day HR operations, ensure compliance, and be the primary point of contact for employee questions and HR processes. This role is ideal for an organized HR professional who wants the flexibility of part-time work while making a real impact at a growing consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations including employee relations, onboarding, and offboarding
  • Ensure compliance with California employment laws and multi-state regulations
  • Maintain and implement HR policies and procedures
  • Administer leave programs (PTO, sick leave, bereavement, FMLA, etc.)
  • Support recruitment coordination and new hire processes
  • Manage benefits administration and annual enrollment using Rippling
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in Rippling HRIS
  • Address routine employee questions and workplace concerns
  • Coordinate with payroll and accounting teams
  • Assist with employee engagement and recognition initiatives
  • Stay current on California labor law updates

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of HR generalist experience
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law and compliance requirements (required)
  • Experience with Rippling HRIS platform or similar platform (required)
  • Experience managing HR for multi-state workforces
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information

Work Location

Remote (United States). California-based candidates strongly preferred due to the majority of our workforce being located in California and the need for deep California employment law knowledge.

Compensation

As required by California law, the hourly salary range for this position in San Francisco is $40 to $55. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
