About this Job The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.We are seeking a highly qualified Facility Maintenance Manager C! The manager oversees the daily maintenance, repair, and operational needs of assigned facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and efficient environment. This role supervises maintenance staff and contractors, coordinates preventative maintenance programs, and responds to service requests and emergencies. The manager ensures compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and organizational standards while managing work schedules, materials, and documentation. Strong leadership, technical knowledge of building systems, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; ORCompletion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus three years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OREighteen semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance.Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found .Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
*Ensures that all of the buildings are up to code for the LA Special School District.
- Supervises maintenance staff, coordinates preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Directs and monitors all building and grounds maintenance activities.
*Manages campus safety and security operations.
- Prepares status updates and reports to SSD leadership, school administrators, and oversight agencies as required.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional.
