Linux Engineer (Mid-Level) or Linux Admin

We have an immediate long-term opportunity with one of our prime clients for a position of Linux Engineer (Mid-Level) or Linux Admin to work at Charlotte, NC.

Pay Rate: $45/hr

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Linux L3 Engineer to manage and support enterprise Linux environments across on-prem and cloud platforms. The role involves advanced troubleshooting, patching, automation, clustering, and performance optimization, while handling critical incidents and escalations in line with ITIL processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support Linux servers (RHEL, SUSE, CentOS) on physical (IBM/HP) and VMware platforms

  • Perform server builds, patching, and upgrades using automation tools (Ansible, BigFix)

  • Administer clusters (Red Hat Cluster, GPFS) and core services (NFS, DNS, NTP, FTP/SFTP)

  • Troubleshoot critical issues, perform RCA, and handle escalations

  • Monitor system performance, manage backups, and support DR/fallback activities

  • Work within ITIL processes using ServiceNow

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with RHEL 6/7, SUSE 11/12, CentOS

  • Experience with Ansible, Linux scripting, RPM/Zypper patching

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite / SUSE Manager (preferred)

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer-handling skills
