Salary: $55.00 USD Hourly – $65.00 USD Hourly

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Backend Sr Software Engineer

Role Overview

The Software Engineer will contribute to the Operations Center product , building backend APIs and integration services that power this critical platform. The role involves working closely with engineering leads and tech leads to analyze requirements, design specifications, and implement medium-to-complex features across large modules.

This position also drives continuous improvement projects (performance, quality, cost), leads resolution of technical issues, and ensures timely resolution of production incidents in line with SLAs.

The role sits within the Data Platform team , supporting products in the Machine area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop backend APIs and integration services for the Operations Center.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to analyze requirements and prepare design specifications.
  • Implement medium-to-complex features and modules of significant size.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, quality, and cost.
  • Resolve medium-to-difficult technical issues and production problems within SLA timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of back-end development experience with public-facing APIs.
  • Strong expertise in Java 8 , Spring Boot , Hibernate, and design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services: ECS, EC2, SQS, SNS, S3, RDS (Aurora MySQL).
  • Proficiency in Agile practices: TDD, ATDD, CI/CD, pairing.
  • Experience configuring CI tools (Drone, GitHub Actions) and managing code via GitHub.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong bias to action with proven technical abilities.
  • Java test will be part of the interview process.
  • Glider test required (Glider Test – 81981011).
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Urbandale office (with occasional remote flexibility).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Redis/Memcache.
  • AWS Certification.
