Position: PhD-Level Computational Biologist

Compensation: $65–$85/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities (Training support will be provided)
- Design biologically grounded benchmark problems with correct answers and multiple plausible distractors.
- Identify, preprocess, and anonymize datasets from repositories such as GEO, SRA, and NCBI.
- Subsample and structure datasets to prevent metadata inference.
- Validate dataset solutions using bioinformatics analysis pipelines and visualizations.
- Work within technical limits including dataset size and time constraints for each task.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a related field.
- Strong experience analyzing sequencing or omics datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, WGS, mass spec).
- Proficiency with bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, samtools, DESeq2) and formats (FASTA/FASTQ/BAM).
- Skilled in Python, R, or bash; experience working with Jupyter notebooks.
- Understanding of biological experiment design and common data artifacts such as batch effects.
