About The Role The Junior Business Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the IRS Saver’s Match program by conducting comprehensive data analysis to inform strategic decisions and reporting. This position involves collecting, interpreting, and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data related to the program’s promotional and implementation efforts. The analyst will work closely with government stakeholders and internal teams to understand business needs, develop analysis plans, and produce actionable insights. Responsibilities include supporting communication activities, assisting in the preparation of reports for Congress, and providing recommendations based on data-driven research. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to ownership and quality of work. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful government programs while developing professional expertise in data analysis and public sector consulting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript)
- Proficiency with structured databases and query languages such as PL/SQL, Postgres, or MySQL
- Familiarity with statistical programming languages like SAS, R, or Stata is a plus
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in data mining techniques, including clustering or anomaly detection
- At least 1 year of experience designing and implementing mathematical models using methods such as logistic regression, decision trees, or random forests
- Public Trust Clearance and ability to pass background checks
- Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Critical thinking with keen attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Engage with government clients to understand their business needs, define research objectives, identify data sources, and develop analysis plans
- Support meetings involving stakeholders from various departments including TS, IRS IT, Chief Counsel, Privacy, PGLD, TXO, OLS, and others
- Assist in internal and external communication activities related to the program
- Contribute to the development of reports summarizing promotion efforts for IRS’s Congress submissions
- Analyze data from previous IRS promotion and implementation efforts to identify best practices and optimize future initiatives
- Evaluate audience and audience-related data to identify communication gaps and inform promotional strategies
- Develop actionable recommendations based on research findings and present them to government stakeholders
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, producing high-quality work with minimal supervision
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program objectives and organizational goals
