About The Role The Principal Cyber Security Data Analyst at UnitedHealth Group is a pivotal role responsible for conducting detailed investigations of workplace incidents and data events through a systematic and analytical approach. This position requires a highly skilled professional to identify impacted data, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams—including management, legal, and security peers—and ensure thorough data collection, accurate analysis, and clear communication of findings. The role involves working as part of the security team to develop and enhance an investigative data platform that supports incident response and data security initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data analysis, cybersecurity, and data engineering, with a focus on building scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a combination of education and extensive experience, including a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of six years of equivalent work experience in relevant fields. A minimum of five years of experience in data analysis, data mining, or data science roles is required, along with proficiency in writing and deploying production-level Python code in professional environments. Candidates should have at least three years of experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform, demonstrating an ability to manage and automate deployment pipelines effectively. Expertise in data visualization tools and libraries like Plotly, Seaborn, and Chart.js, as well as experience with PySpark and Databricks, is essential. Knowledge of medallion schemas, data lake management, SQL, and data modeling and integration tools is also required. Advanced degrees in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields, along with experience in machine learning, predictive analytics, and deploying AI/ML models, are preferred qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Participate in comprehensive incident investigations following data events, ensuring a thorough understanding of the incident scope and impact.
- Secure and document incidents promptly to preserve digital evidence, prevent contamination, and maintain the integrity of critical information.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret diverse data sources to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential security threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, management, and technical peers, to facilitate effective data collection and incident resolution.
- Create and maintain streamlined solutions for ingesting, aggregating, deduplicating, and reporting relevant data elements for ongoing security analysis.
- Present investigation findings clearly to management and stakeholders, ensuring understanding and appropriate action.
- Develop and enhance investigative data platforms and tools to support incident response efforts and improve data security posture.
- Maintain high ethical standards, ensuring objectivity, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Work effectively under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations, demonstrating strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
