About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst to join our team at KBR, Inc. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission to develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for complex software systems, developer tools, and enterprise applications used within high-security government platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and QA professionals, to ensure that all technical documentation is accurate, clear, and tailored to diverse audiences. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical projects, including AI/ML systems and data-intensive applications, in a fast-paced environment that values precision and clarity.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 10 years of experience in technical writing for complex software systems, developer tools, or enterprise applications
- Proven ability to author, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical documentation including API references, system architecture guides, user manuals, and onboarding materials
- Proficiency with documentation tools and platforms such as Confluence, Markdown, Sphinx, DITA, or similar
- Strong understanding of software development processes, including Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and QA, to extract and document technical details
- Familiarity with source control tools (e.g., Git), issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA), and documentation pipelines integrated with code repositories
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to write for both technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring tone and depth accordingly
- Experience documenting secure systems, regulated software, or mission-critical government platforms
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems, LLM technologies, or data‑intensive applications and their documentation needs
- Experience creating multimedia assets such as diagrams, flowcharts, UML diagrams, and video walkthroughs
- Proficiency with structured writing methodologies and single-source publishing approaches
- Experience establishing and maintaining documentation standards, style guides, and content governance models
- Ability to manage and prioritize documentation tasks in fast-paced, iterative development environments
- Contributions to internal knowledge bases, onboarding programs, and training materials for technical staff
Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for complex software systems, APIs, and system architectures
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and QA teams to gather technical details and ensure documentation accuracy
- Create clear, concise, and user-friendly manuals, onboarding materials, and training guides for diverse audiences
- Utilize documentation tools and platforms such as Confluence, Markdown, Sphinx, or DITA to produce structured content
- Implement and uphold documentation standards, style guides, and content governance policies
- Design and produce multimedia assets including diagrams, flowcharts, UML diagrams, and video walkthroughs to enhance understanding
- Contribute to the development of internal knowledge bases and onboarding programs for new technical staff
- Support documentation pipelines integrated with source control systems like Git and issue tracking tools such as JIRA
- Assist in documenting secure, regulated, and mission-critical government systems, ensuring compliance with security standards
- Participate in Agile development cycles, managing multiple documentation tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Provide mentorship and guidance on documentation best practices across teams
