About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about constructing scalable architectures, enhancing platform performance, and contributing to innovative technology solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core systems that power our large language model (LLM)-based generative AI assistant. Your expertise will help build robust, secure, and scalable backend infrastructure, ensuring our platform can support millions of users seamlessly. Additionally, you will have opportunities to contribute to open-source projects, integrate new technologies, and optimize data pipelines, all of which are critical to our continuous growth and innovation.

This is a remote position available to candidates based in the United States. We also offer co-working spaces in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City, providing flexible work arrangements to suit diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in developing and deploying mission-critical REST/RPC services focusing on scalability and performance
• Strong understanding of infrastructure management, including Kubernetes (k8s), deployment pipelines, and system debugging
• Expertise in designing and maintaining scalable SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects is a plus
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend systems and infrastructure that support AI-driven products at web scale
• Enhance platform performance by improving scalability, reliability, and security measures
• Contribute to open-source projects and incorporate innovative technologies into our platform
• Develop and optimize production data pipelines, including SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient query performance
• Refactor and improve existing systems to reduce technical debt, increase maintainability, and support future growth
• Define and establish best practices, architectural patterns, and team standards to foster long-term innovation
• Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure robust deployment, monitoring, and operational strategies
