Lead Data Analyst — Analytics Enablement (Remote-First)

James Search Group is partnering with a high-growth, data-driven P&C Insurance carrier in the search for a Lead Data Analyst to accelerate their enterprise-wide data modernization journey.

This role is remote-first , with the option to work hybrid or on-site from any of 12 U.S. office locations.

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 base bonus 401(k) match health benefits more

About the Role

As the Lead Data Analyst, you will shape how data is built, modeled, and consumed across the business. You’ll own the creation of highly reliable gold and platinum data models within dbt and Databricks, enabling analytics teams to deliver faster, cleaner insights.

Sitting at the intersection of analytics and engineering, this role is perfect for someone who brings strong SQL skills, deep experience in modular dbt development, and a passion for building scalable, production-ready data assets.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain enterprise-ready gold and platinum data models using dbt
  • Partner closely with Analytics Engineering to align with silver-layer structures
  • Develop reusable, documented data assets to support analytics & reporting
  • Establish and enforce dbt best practices (testing, modularization, version control)
  • Implement data validation frameworks ensuring accuracy and trust
  • Mentor junior analysts on SQL, dbt, and data modeling
  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Claims, and other business teams

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6 years in data analytics or analytics engineering (P&C experience a plus)
  • Expert-level SQL hands-on mastery of dbt (macros, testing, Jinja, docs)
  • Experience with Databricks or similar cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of medallion architecture
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and collaborative development workflows
  • Ability to work independently and deliver production-grade data models
  • Strong communication and business-partner engagement skills

Bonus Points

  • Experience mentoring or leading analytics talent
  • Familiarity with Hex or similar BI/analysis tools
  • A passion for clean, scalable data design
