UX Designer / Researcher (Contract)

Role Description
We’re looking for a User Experience(UX) Designer/Researcher who can step into a highly collaborative discovery team and produce designs that are clear and well-supported. This role will require strengths in research, systems thinking, facilitation, and visual communication.
You’ll lead UX work for the discovery phase of a new enterprise application in the education space. The three-person discovery pod you’ll join (UX, Tech, and Product) will set the project direction by providing discovery artifacts such as research insights, comps, and experience maps.
If you enjoy turning ambiguous problem spaces into structured narratives, facilitating conversations that get teams aligned, and producing high-quality resources that executives can understand at-a-glance, this role will fit you well. You’ll be running discovery workshops, meeting with cross-functional partners, and presenting your findings regularly. Confidence, clarity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a virtual environment are important skills.
While this is a 6-month contract role, we are a young agency and looking to build long-term relationships with designers for future work.
What You’ll Do
- Map process flows, user journeys, and system interactions
- Facilitate collaborative sessions, including User Story Mapping and other discovery workshops
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and synthesize insights into clear, actionable requirements
- Build experience maps, diagrams, and visual artifacts that align the team
- Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional and executive audiences
- Support onboarding and documentation through clear, structured visuals
- Work closely with design, tech, and product partners across the larger team
- Contribute to shaping emerging design standards and approaches as the agency grows
What You Bring
- 7+ years of UX experience with meaningful research and discovery work
- Strong ability to break down complex workflows and communicate them visually
- Comfortable facilitating workshops and leading collaborative sessions
- Clear communicator with strong presentation skills
- Experience with enterprise applications or complex systems; education is a plus
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, collaborative environment
