About The Role The Senior Data Analyst at Tufts Technology Services plays a pivotal role in managing complex data projects focused on business analytics and visualization. This fully remote position involves working directly with stakeholders across the university to understand their data needs, define project requirements, and develop impactful dashboards and reports. The analyst will utilize platforms such as Tableau or Power BI to create professional, user-friendly visualizations that support strategic decision-making at various levels, including senior university leadership. The role requires a deep understanding of data management best practices, relational databases, and SQL, alongside the ability to communicate technical insights effectively to non-technical audiences. The Senior Data Analyst will also contribute to advancing university initiatives by enabling data-driven strategies and ensuring the integrity and quality of data assets. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence university-wide decision-making processes through innovative data solutions, all within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience creating dashboards and data visualizations using business intelligence platforms such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Proficiency in SQL for data preparation and querying relational databases
  • Experience working with relational databases and understanding of data management best practices
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related technical field
  • Extensive experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization tools
  • Experience with Tableau Server and Denodo Data Virtualization Platform
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or others
  • Familiarity with APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc.)
  • Understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical methods
  • Experience working within an academic environment and large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse systems
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality standards, data lineage, and metadata management
  • Proven ability to lead data governance or analytics initiatives from inception to completion

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute complex data analytics projects, including designing, developing, and enhancing dashboards and visualizations
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data solutions
  • Create and maintain professional dashboards that support strategic decision-making across various university departments
  • Ensure adherence to data governance standards and best practices for data quality, security, and privacy
  • Work with relational databases and SQL to prepare, extract, and manipulate data for analysis
  • Communicate technical insights and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Lead or contribute to data initiatives, including data lineage, metadata management, and data quality standards
  • Stay current with emerging data visualization and analytics tools, techniques, and industry trends
  • Support the development of data-driven strategies that align with university goals and priorities
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and departmental training activities
