Material Handler
Job Summary The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently transporting, handling, and tracking raw materials and regrind resin to support production operations. This role ensures that materials are correctly prepared and delivered to production equipment, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.Shift Hours and Times: First Shift — Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PMResponsibilities
- Transport materials (virgin or regrind resin, colorants, packaging materials, etc.) to production presses and maintain accurate material reporting forms.
- Operate forklift trucks safely to move materials as needed.
- Keep machine hoppers full at all times, verifying the correct material before loading.
- Assist press operators with breaks as directed.
- Clean any material spills and maintain cleanliness around machines and work areas.
- Assist with rework of parts as necessary.
- Grind runners and scrap parts, ensuring no cross-contamination occurs; label materials accurately with lot number, item number, and description.
- Complete required paperwork during material changes and mix regrind with virgin material in correct percentages.
- Participate in material inventory management, including raw materials and packaging.
- Maintain and dump all garbage into the main dumpster at the end of the shift.
- Help maintain a clean and safe plant environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Maintain the highest quality work to continuously ensure customer satisfaction.
Competencies and Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for at least 8 hours per shift.
- Experience operating a forklift truck.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Above-average computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Excellent math skills and ability to track and manage inventory accurately.
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads and production priorities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.
