Manager Engineering
The Manager of Engineering Services ensures the safe, efficient, and well-maintained operation of the resort’s facilities. They lead, supervise, and manage the technical and upkeep teams effectively. This role coordinates the Engineering, Grounds, Common Areas, and Landscaping operations, ensuring that the assets of the resort are maintained to Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) brand standards, safety requirements, and guest happiness expectations. The Manager works closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Engineering to promote collaborative working relationships. They improve operational excellence and build a service-focused culture that improves the experience of visitors and property holders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of OSHA regulations and ensure consistent implementation of safety standards and procedures.
- Promote and carry out safe working relationships between Engineering and all resort departments to support a safe working and guest environment.
- Conduct routine inspections with regulatory authorities, including annual Fire Department inspections to maintain Public Assembly permits.
- Coordinate all required inspections for elevators and other regulated systems to ensure compliance, documentation, and operational readiness.
- Oversee daily Engineering and Maintenance operations to ensure resort systems, assets, and equipment are functioning safely and efficiently.
- Conduct daily and weekly walk-through inspections of all facilities to evaluate building conditions, equipment performance, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as outlined in the Engineering SOP Manual.
- Direct and support routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance programs, including troubleshooting, repairs, and system optimization.
- Implement and maintain effective energy management systems and sustainability initiatives to support efficiency and cost reduction.
- Monitor and follow up on room call and work order logs to ensure timely completion, guest satisfaction, and high service standards.
- Implement and maintain guest and owner relations programs to ensure requests are resolved promptly, professionally, and in alignment with HGV service expectations.
- Promote a customer-focused culture within the Engineering team, ensuring interactions with guests and owners reflect courtesy, urgency, and ownership.
- Manage departmental costs responsibly, applying good judgment to support budgetary goals through effective cost control and prioritisation.
- Adhere to corporate purchasing policies, including bid processes, vendor selection, contracts, invoices, and procurement approvals.
- Assist in maintenance planning, inventory controls, budgeting, and capital project support to ensure appropriate use of resources and financial stewardship.
- Implement and maintain department policies, procedures, maintenance logs, inspection schedules, and reporting documentation.
- Support Engineering personnel management functions including recruiting, interviewing, selection, onboarding, training, performance monitoring and coaching.
- Provide leadership, motivation, supervision, and development opportunities for Engineering Technicians to achieve high performance and service excellence.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and lead monthly one-on-one meetings to support employee growth, engagement, and accountability.
Job Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- Trade school or equivalent experience, technical training, or comparable industry-related education preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a related engineering/maintenance trade.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering supervisory experience, preferably within a timeshare, resort, hotel, or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing maintenance operations, safety standards, and team performance.
