About The Role Disney Digital Entertainment is embarking on an ambitious journey to craft the ‘digital front door’ for The Walt Disney Company, integrating all aspects of Disney’s magic into a new interactive universe. We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that combine storytelling with innovative game development. As a key member of the team, you will lead the design and development of engaging user interfaces and experiences for a variety of interactive Disney games and experiences, leveraging your expertise in UI/UX design, game development, and collaboration. This position is remote, offering flexibility with potential minimal travel, and provides a platform to create experiences that will captivate Disney fans and gamers worldwide.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in game development, with a proven track record of leading projects and shipping successful games. You should have hands-on experience with Unreal Engine and/or UEFN, demonstrating proficiency in UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), Blueprints, and Verse scripting. A strong portfolio showcasing your work in UI/UX design, especially within gaming environments, is essential. You should have led or contributed significantly to multiple shipped products across various platforms, including console, PC, and mobile. Excellent collaboration skills are necessary to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders. A deep appreciation for Disney’s IP, characters, lore, and aesthetics is highly desirable, along with a passion for creative problem-solving and innovation. A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project leads and developers to design and implement UI elements and interactive experiences that are engaging and intuitive.
• Lead the UI development team, managing workflows, timelines, and deliverables within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for user interfaces using tools such as Figma or similar applications.
• Develop UI content utilizing Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting languages like Verse, ensuring seamless integration within live service environments.
• Work closely with art directors to establish and maintain UI style guidelines that align with Disney’s branding and aesthetic standards.
• Design, implement, and refine UI and UX systems to enhance gameplay and user engagement.
• Write detailed design documentation to communicate ideas clearly and facilitate smooth development workflows.
• Mentor and guide junior UI designers, fostering a creative and productive team environment.
• Iterate on UI/UX features based on user feedback and testing results to ensure optimal user experience.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in UI/UX design and game development technology.
