About The Role The Sr. Principal Software Engineer at Siemens plays a pivotal role in defining and driving the technical direction of complex systems that blend cloud infrastructure, machine learning, and hardware interaction. This remote position is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who excels in systems architecture, cross-disciplinary problem solving, and strategic project leadership. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with engineers, ML researchers, product managers, and executive teams to develop scalable, robust, and adaptable systems that support next-generation intelligent and interactive products. Your expertise will influence multiple engineering teams, ensuring that technological solutions align with business goals and research priorities. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software development
  • Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems and real-time applications
  • Strong leadership skills in technical strategy and cross-team architecture efforts
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Go, or Java
  • Deep understanding of system design, performance optimization, and fault-tolerance
  • Experience bridging machine learning research and production environments (preferred)
  • Background in building systems that operate in or interact with the physical world (preferred)
  • Ability to influence engineering organizations and contribute to hiring and culture (preferred)
  • Track record of mentoring senior and staff-level engineers (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the technical architecture across core systems and products to ensure scalability and robustness
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership on strategic projects, guiding engineering teams towards best practices
  • Lead technical reviews, code reviews, and mentorship sessions to foster technical excellence
  • Align engineering efforts with product development and machine learning research priorities
  • Identify potential scaling challenges early and develop strategies to mitigate bottlenecks
  • Champion engineering standards related to reliability, system sustainability, and maintainability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that integrate AI, hardware, and cloud infrastructure
