Description: Our client is currently seeking a Software Engineer-Simulation 4

Satellite Payload Testbed Software Engineer

Location: El Segundo, CA

Duration: 6 Months

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance pre-start; final clearance post-start

Role Overview

This position supports the development and maintenance of spacecraft simulation platforms used for flight software testing, mission rehearsal, and operator training. The role involves working with hybrid software-hardware systems to simulate satellite payloads and related subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex simulation and emulation systems for satellite payloads
  • Document software requirements and interfaces for testbed and simulation platforms
  • Support software development and verification planning for high-assurance flight software
  • Ensure adherence to software quality, security, and enterprise design standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software interactions across power, thermal, communications, encryption, command/data handling, guidance/navigation, and mission operations systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate software into satellite simulation architectures
  • Share technical expertise and provide guidance to early-career engineers

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance
  • 10 years of experience in software development using compiled languages (e.g., C, C , C#, Java) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript)
  • 5 years of experience in aerospace or space systems (satellites, launch vehicles, ground systems)
  • Experience working collaboratively within software development teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related field
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with modeling tools (e.g., Cameo, Matlab) and languages (UML, SysML)
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control systems (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) in a DevSecOps environment
