Electrical Component Engineer – Aerospace & Defense
Location: Barkley, MO
Duration: 6 Months
Position Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned Electrical Component Engineer with deep expertise in high-reliability environments to support the evaluation, qualification, and integration of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components across aerospace and defense programs. This role ensures compliance with companies standards and military specifications, working closely with suppliers and subcontractors to drive excellence in component design and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply engineering expertise to assess and qualify components for assembly, subassembly repair, and design.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure electronic components meet companies requirements and the Parts Management Plan.
- Evaluate and recommend alternate electrical components for both new product development and legacy systems.
- Lead efforts in wiring harness design, cable fabrication, connector selection, and harness installation.
- Ensure compliance with military and aerospace electrical specifications and standards.
- Support harsh environment applications across aerospace, medical, automotive, and industrial domains.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Chemistry (ABET preferred); or equivalent experience (e.g., Master’s 7 years, PhD 4 years).
- 9 years of hands-on experience in electrical design and/or testing of components, wiring harnesses, connectors, and cables.
- Extensive experience with military electronics and Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS).
- Deep familiarity with electrical MIL-SPECs and aerospace industry standards.
- Proven track record in wiring design and cable/connector integration for 5 years.
- Strong understanding of aircraft and weapons systems to support component selection and qualification.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in project management tools to meet cost, schedule, and technical goals.
- Experience incorporating EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into engineering processes and lab testing.
- Ability to define strategies, develop work statements, and consult with peers while keeping leadership informed.
- Significant experience interpreting and applying military and industry specifications.
