Description: Our client is currently seeking a Senior UI & Web Services Developer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – 2 days/week in office
Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned developer to contribute to the modernization of HHSC IT applications. This role focuses on both User Interface (UI) and Web Services development, with a strong emphasis on scalable, responsive design and service-oriented architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Front-End Development :

  • Build modern, responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Angular and TypeScript.

  • Implement client-facing applications with responsive design principles.

  • Web Services Development :

  • Convert legacy SOAP-based services to RESTful APIs.

  • Develop secure RESTful services using JBoss EAP.

  • Full Lifecycle Participation :

  • Engage in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Create and maintain technical and design documentation.

  • Maintenance & Support :

  • Perform system analysis, defect resolution, and production support.

  • Apply contemporary testing methodologies and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Required: 8 years
Candidates must meet or exceed 8 years of experience in all the following areas:

Front-End/UI Development

  • 4 years with Angular (TypeScript)
  • HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, CSS3, Bootstrap, SASS

Web Services

  • 4 years developing RESTful services with security standards (JWT, OAuth)
  • Experience with SOAP and REST APIs

Core Technologies

  • Java, JEE, Spring Framework
  • JSON, XML
  • Maven, OpenAPI v3
  • Java Server Pages (JSP), Struts

Application Design

  • Integration of web services into Angular or React SPAs
  • Development of reusable, testable modules/components
  • Experience with JEE Application Servers and caching strategies

Preferred Qualifications

Years Preference Experience 3 Preferred JBoss or IBM WebSphere Application Server (v8 or later) 3 Preferred Agile Development Methodologies (Scrum preferred) 2 Preferred Development experience for mobile and tablet platforms
