Cloud Data Developer
Requirements
Must have:
– I require a minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or the operation of cloud data platforms, particularly with hands-on experience managing cloud-managed databases/DBaaS (such as AWS RDS/Aurora) and delivering datasets to downstream consumers. – You should possess practical experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for managing the lifecycle of databases and datasets. – Proficiency in Python and SQL is necessary for automation, operational tooling, and query optimization. – Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines (for instance, GitLab CI/CD) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desired. – I expect demonstrated experience with backup/DR, performance tuning, capacity planning, runbooks, and production incident response for services that rely on databases. – You should have experience in translating consumer requirements into specifications for dataset provisioning, access, and service levels (freshness, latency, availability). – Familiarity with access control models and their enforcement (RBAC) along with practical exposure to attribute-based or policy-driven controls (ABAC or similar) is essential. – You should have experience in implementing security/compliance controls for data, including encryption, auditing/logging, data classification, and masking/anonymization in cloud or hybrid environments. – A technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
Responsibilities:
- I will involve you in all aspects of agile delivery, encompassing design, implementation, testing, and deployment of features and tools for solution spaces. – You will be responsible for the provisioning, configuration, scaling, tuning, patching, backup/restore, and lifecycle management of DBaaS instances hosting solution data (e.g., RDS/Aurora or equivalent), including capacity planning, disaster recovery, and response to incidents. – You will implement and maintain processes for dataset provisioning and delivery (covering cataloging, access controls, dataset packaging, and SLAs related to freshness/latency) to support downstream consumers and integrations. – Your role will require you to optimize consumer performance and reduce the cost of service through data layout and query optimization as well as advising solution owners on access/query patterns. – I expect you to design, implement, and operationalize enterprise data ontologies and canonical models, create semantic models, and ensure compliance with taxonomy/versioning, collaborating with governance for discoverability and lineage. – You will design and enforce authorization models by implementing RBAC for role-level permissions and ABAC for detailed, attribute-driven policies, utilizing a centralized policy engine. – Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD for changes related to databases and dataset lifecycles, automating entitlement provisioning workflows, authoring runbooks, and participating in on-call rotations. – You will also enforce security, compliance, and GovCloud requirements relating to data access and control, including broad security measures such as encryption, logging, and access attestations. – Integrating policy and observability by centralizing policy evaluation, logging audit decisions, and monitoring for unusual access will be part of your mandate. – You will design, deploy, and maintain data integrations and operational practices within enterprise data platforms (like Palantir Foundry) where relevant. – Providing stakeholder support by advising solution owners on SLAs, access patterns, and best practices, as well as validating consumer requirements and documenting usage guides is essential. – I encourage you to continuously review and recommend improvements to platforms aimed at enhancing reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.
