About The Role As a Lead Data Scientist at Franklin Templeton, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s technological capabilities by designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models. Your expertise will support the modernization of investment processes, enhance decision-making, and automate complex workflows. Working closely with data engineers, quantitative researchers, and investment professionals, you will lead initiatives to operationalize scalable AI systems, including the implementation of Generative AI and large language models (LLMs). This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies in a collaborative environment, contributing to innovative solutions that impact investment strategies and client outcomes. The role is based in San Ramon, CA, with potential for remote work within designated areas in the U.S.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- 24+ years of experience in data science, AI, or ML, with a preference for experience with LLMs
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of MLOps practices and frameworks
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and translate business needs into technical solutions
Responsibilities
- Design, build, train, and deploy advanced ML and AI models to address business challenges and enhance investment decision-making processes
- Apply Generative AI, LLMs, and deep learning techniques to automate analysis, reporting, and insights generation
- Implement scalable and reliable models using MLOps practices, continuously monitoring and refining their performance
- Develop automated data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and validating both structured and unstructured data
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust data governance and accessibility
- Conduct statistical and exploratory data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
- Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
- Partner with portfolio managers and product teams to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions
- Research emerging AI methodologies and prototype innovative applications to enhance FT’s AI capabilities
- Contribute to the development of best practices and knowledge sharing within the organization
