The mission of this agency is to provide flood protection through the operation and maintenance of a large flood control system which consists of levees, pumping stations, floodgates, floodwalls, and drainage structures.ABOUT THIS POSITION
The goal of the maintenance department is to ensure that the flood control measures they are responsible for operate in the manner in which they were designed.*** Promotional- Only Current, Permanent employees of the Tensas Basin Levee District will be Eligible***Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience as a mechanic, or in the alteration, construction, maintenance or repair of bridges, buildings, drainage facilities, grounds, levees, roads, or wharfs.Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found .Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties: Supervise work crews performing levee maintenance to include mowing with wheel type tractors and bush hog cutters, chemical maintenance with heavy-duty tractors, pulled spray equipment, repair using wheel-type tractors with dirt pans, bull dozers, track hoes, and heavy dump trucks.Supervise channel clearing and tree removal using a track hoe with a shear. Timber King tree and brush grinder, bulldozers, and track hoes.Supervise crews in flood fighting to include sandbagging, constructing flood barriers such as floodwall closings, temporary levees and pumping station operations.Consults with Levee Board Superintendent and/or Levee Foreman C on upcoming projects, addresses leave, and other incidental reports such as fuel inventoryPosition-Specific Details:Appointment Type: PromotionalCareer Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.How To Apply: No Civil Service test score or assessment is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.To apply for this vacancy, click on the “Apply” link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
