Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Cardiology team in Hilo, Hawaii. You will work alongside a collaborative group of cardiologists and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality cardiovascular care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient evaluations, histories, and physical exams for new and follow-up cardiology patients.
- Manage and monitor patients with common cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, hyperlipidemia, etc.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs, Holter monitors, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
- Assist in care coordination for patients undergoing procedures or referred for specialty care.
- Provide inpatient cardiology consults and follow-ups (if applicable).
- Participate in hospital rounds, discharge planning, and transitions of care.
- Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes, medications, and disease management.
- Collaborate closely with supervising cardiologists, primary care providers, and support staff.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Hawaii, or eligibility to obtain.
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred, but strong new graduates with relevant rotations or RN background in cardiology will be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently with physician support.
- EMR experience (Epic or equivalent preferred).
