Job Description:

Position: IT – PEBA – Database Administrator – Advanced

Location: Columbia, SC (Remote) MUST come on-site (5 days) for the first week of the contract at their own expense

Years of Exp: 10 Years

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Role Summary: Administer and optimize Software AG Adabas/Natural environments to ensure reliability, security, performance, and smooth data access across production, test, and development systems.

Key Duties:

  • Administer Adabas & Natural Security: Manage production/test/dev systems, backups, restores, DDMs, and scripts.
  • Security & Auditing: Maintain Natural Security (file/app access), handle user provisioning, enforce RBAC, and perform audits.
  • Data Access: Install/manage CONNX (or similar), create user catalogs, write guides, and train users on queries.
  • Change Management: Control file/schema changes through SDLC, maintain data dictionaries, and document updates.
  • Upgrades & Performance: Research and implement hardware/software upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
  • Disaster Recovery: Support BC/DR planning, testing, and execution.

Required Skills:

  • 8 years managing Adabas & Natural (Software AG).
  • Minimum of eight years managing Software AG Adabas and Natural.
  • Hands-on experience administering Adabas databases and Natural Security (Software AG stack) Working knowledge of CONNX or comparable Adabas data access tools, including installation, configuration, and user enablement.

· Practical experience implementing role-based access control, security reviews, and audit documentation for regulated environments.

· Familiarity with SDLC/change control across dev/test/prod and maintaining a formal data dictionary.

· Experience with broader Software AG tools (e.g., NaturalONE, Predict, EntireX) and DDM management best practices

· Proficiency with environment refreshes, backup/restore procedures, performance tuning, and scripting (e.g., Natural utilities).

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to capacity planning, platform modernization, and performance engineering.
  • Participation in BC/DR program development and exercises.
  • Experience with open systems – Linux background (2 years of experience preferred).
