Extrusion Process Engineer

Role Overview

• Serve as the technical expert in film extrusion.
• Lead troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure production goals, waste reduction, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Drive safety-first culture and engineering enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization & Leadership

• Champion departmental safety rules and practices.
• Implement process improvements to boost quality, uptime, and productivity (OEE).
• Develop and maintain a robust quality assurance system for film extrusion.
• Track and report extrusion performance metrics; set future targets.
• Create standard work procedures and lead operator training programs.
• Evaluate new materials (resins, pigments, additives) for process compatibility.
• Collaborate on preventive maintenance schedules and equipment priorities.
• Recommend new equipment and process upgrades; manage capital project justification and vendor coordination.

Team Development & Technical Advisory

• Provide technical guidance to teams on film extrusion processes.
• Support performance reviews of extrusion operators.
• Promote a collaborative team environment and contribute to improvement discussions.
• Travel to suppliers for trials and quality audits.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Manufacturing engineering experience required.
• Blown film extrusion experience is essential; thermoplastic polymer experience preferred.
• Skilled in extrusion process development and control systems.
• Strong project management and analytical capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; PLC/SCADA knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
• Effective communicator with public speaking skills preferred.
