About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Director of Growth Analytics and Operations, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our acquisition and growth marketing initiatives through the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines and systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our marketing and growth teams have access to accurate, timely, and actionable data to drive strategic decision-making. This role involves designing scalable ETL processes, integrating customer data from various sources, and ensuring data integrity across our platforms. You will collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Growth Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Marketing to facilitate seamless data flow, support experimentation, and enable personalized customer experiences. Your work will directly impact DigitalOcean’s ability to scale its customer base and improve overall marketing effectiveness, making this an exciting opportunity for a data engineering professional passionate about cloud technology and growth analytics.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data pipeline development
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT architecture, and pipeline orchestration
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data tools such as Snowflake, Segment, Airflow, and Jitsu
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of data governance, validation, and quality monitoring frameworks
  • Experience with full-stack engineering, including backend and frontend systems (Go, React, Node.js, Typescript/JavaScript)
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation best practices
  • Operational experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
  • Strategic problem-solving skills with a focus on scalable solutions
  • Prior experience in growth experimentation, digital marketing ecosystems, or product-led growth strategies is a plus
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines to extract data from backend services and load into Snowflake for analysis
  • Develop and optimize data workflows that enable real-time customer data availability across marketing channels and dashboards
  • Implement data validation, quality assurance, and governance frameworks to ensure high data integrity and compliance
  • Collaborate with Growth Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Marketing teams to support experimentation, measurement, and personalization efforts
  • Build services to extract data from key systems such as Marketo and Jitsu, ensuring clean ingestion into our Customer Data Platform (Segment)
  • Automate processes and maintain documentation for data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to ensure operational stability
  • Contribute to the development of scalable data solutions that support business growth and customer engagement strategies
  • Participate in cross-team projects, shipping code into product and backend infrastructure to meet data goals
