Find your next opportunity today!Description of Work Behavioral Health Coaches provide direct support and facilitate daily programming activities for intellectually/developmentally disabled children, teens, and young adults who exhibit extreme behavioral challenges. Job duties include but are not limited to: providing supervision and ensuring safety of individuals, assisting in educational and/or vocational programming, facilitating indoor/outdoor leisure activities and encouraging participation, crisis-intervention which includes de-escalation of aggressive individuals and, at times, physical interventions, facilitate goals in areas of grooming, hygiene, dining, and residential skills to promote independence, participate in Community outings, assisting individuals in areas of daily living skills while promoting their independence, transportation when needed for school, outings, appointment, writing monthly progress notes for goals and recording of behavior data, meal preparation and following nutrition guidelines and coaching in areas of social skills, community safety awareness, problem solving.This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesRecruitment Range: $40,700.00 – $44,500.00*A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. 1st Shift: 6:30am–3:00pm 5% Weekend Only
2nd Shift 11:30am-8:00pm (Floater) 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
2nd Shift: 2:30pm–11:00pm 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
3rd Shift: 10:45pm-6:45am 10% Weekday & 15% WeekendsShifts include alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled.*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus*To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
