It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of Work The Health Care Technician II is responsible for supervising and guiding direct care staff in the absence of the Health Care Supervisor I (DS I). This role focuses on ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals while supporting the implementation of their habilitation and training plans. Duties include assisting with personal care, daily living skills, socialization, leisure activities, and maintaining safety. The technician also helps in classroom and training settings, provides transportation to appointments and activities, and shops with or for individuals as needed. Additional responsibilities include administering emergency care for incidents such as seizures or accidents, performing specified housekeeping tasks, and maintaining accurate records and documentation.The working hours for the Developmental Technician II position located within the Harmony Court Division are from 2:15 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., including every other weekend, and applicants must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry to be considered. Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. The HCT I position requires frequent lifting and bending.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $31,235.00 — $46,852.00A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature to provide adequate supervision of the assigned population in the home.Work Location: Harmony Court/103 ParrottWork Hours: 2:15 p.m. – 10:45 p.m./Every Other Weekend**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus**To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible.
