It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of Work The primary purpose of Grounds Worker I role is to maintain the grounds, flora, and all associated equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing campus environment at Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center. The Grounds Worker I will be responsible for routine landscaping, gardening, equipment operation, and general upkeep of outdoor areas. In addition, this position will be responsible for removing snow, ice, leaves and removal of debris from the campus. This role will assist with other areas in Maintenance as needed.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesRecruitment Range: $31,200.00 – $46,991.00Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:Prior experience working in a grounds/landscaping environment.Demonstrated experience using chainsaws, tractors and implements such as discs, plows, loaders, backhoe and buckets.Demonstrated experience utilizing and maintain ground equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors & spreaders.This position is designated as Mandatory and Must report or stay over during adverse weather events.About Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center:Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability.
