Metallurgist:Prime Responsibilities & Key Performance AreasDevelop and implement metallurgical processes, controls, and improvements to support product development and maintenanceCollaborate with quality and engineering teams to ensure compliance with customer specifications and generate detailed technical reportsManage metallography laboratory personnel and oversee daily lab operationsProvide technical support to the metallography lab, including equipment use, test methods, and interpretation of resultsSupport Operations with:New parts qualificationPeriodic cut-up evaluationsReview of customer technical and quality specificationsCreation of manufacturing proceduresFailure investigationsCost reduction initiatives in coordination with die engineering and salesRecommend and implement process improvements and standardization initiativesAlign product development with customer and product requirements to deliver cost-effective, robust solutionsTransition new products and processes into full-scale manufacturingInvestigate, evaluate, and implement new or improved manufacturing technologies and methodologiesServe as the technical expert and single point of contact for material science-related inquiries across production and customer supportCommunicate and collaborate with customers, suppliers, engineers, production personnel, and managementAct as technical spokesperson for casting, alloy selection, heat treatment, resonant inspection, NDT, part failure analysis, and resolution of material specification conflictsMonitor internal and external technologies to identify opportunities or threats to existing products and processesMaintain accurate records to validate past actions and support intellectual property protectionAdditional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned Ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct in all operationsAssist in solving technical problems as they ariseCoordinate with customers on component testing to determine failure modes and effectsMinimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials EngineeringMinimum of 7 years of technical experience working with specialty alloysProven ability to apply metallurgical and materials science principles in a manufacturing settingExperience leading the implementation of new process technologies and bridging R&D with productionStrong knowledge of metallurgical standards, methods, practices, and equipmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in data analysis, applied statistics, process control, and measurement system analysis (MSA/R&R)Creative and strategic thinker capable of developing innovative solutions to improve performance and yieldFamiliarity with continuous improvement tools, including Kaizen, synchronous manufacturing, and Six SigmaSkilled in mechanical testing and metallographic proceduresStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; highly organized and adept at setting prioritiesProficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software toolsAdaptable and flexible when addressing production or development challengesAble to interpret and apply complex technical specifications and engineering drawingsBase pay of $100k-$120k plus bonus and relocation if applicable.
