You will be the Quality Engineer for Lockheed Martin on the Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within LM Space which provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). One of the program’s two primary operating locations is Vandenberg SFB, CA. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services. Our team is responsible for ensuring the quality of manufactured products, and you will play a key role in providing Quality Engineer support, developing and reviewing quality standards, and analyzing quality data.What You Will Be Doing:
As the Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for leading quality initiatives, analyzing complex quality issues, and driving continuous improvement. As the launch operations Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving our inspection and testing processes to guarantee high-quality products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve process issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct internal quality audits to evaluate processes ensuring adherence to quality standards and established procedures, and identify potential areas for improvement
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and defects.
  • Lead Process Improvement Teams and determine root cause analysis, documenting findings and solutions to enhance performance and implement actions to prevent their reoccurrence.
  • Provide oversight of all program items in the procurement process and provide Quality coding as required.
  • Audit all Configuration Management ECR packages, ensuring all drawing released engineering is complete prior to work order closure.
  • Review, approve, and closeout all completed work orders. Identify work order discrepancies, notify engineering and coordinate the appropriate corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications

  • STEM degree at bachelor’s level or higher, or equivalent Quality or Engineering work experience/combined education
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/quality processes and documentation
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret drawings, work instructions, schematics, and specifications
  • Root Cause Analysis or Corrective Action experience
  • Knowledge of Configuration and Data Management
  • Knowledge developing and reviewing quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of products and launch operations.
  • Able to interpret drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Understanding
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience in disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite
  • Demonstrates thorough attention to detail
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Desired skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering/technical discipline
  • Launch Processing experience
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Green Belt Six Sigma Certification
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 pertinent to Quality practices
  • Adept at managing projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills, coupled with your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments
