Job Description Senior Corporate AccountantOur client a small but, growing company, has an immediate need for a “Hands on”, Senior Corporate Accountant with Construction job costing experience.Responsibilities:

  • Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis including researching variances and preparing explanations and adjustments
  • Prepare the closing of monthly and year-end accounting files including preparing journal entries, updating/gathering information and reports for financial meetings
  • Prepare monthly work in process schedule for contracts in preparation of percentage of completion revenue recognition
  • Preparing weekly reports to deliver to CFO for weekly reporting package
  • Maintain all accounting functions for fixed assets, including coding, calculating additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliation fixed asset software to ERP
  • Prepare and maintain debt schedules and amortization schedules
  • Prepare and maintain lease schedules
  • Serve as liaison for interdepartmental projects and/or request by providing accounting support
  • Perform clerical tasks including but not limited to posting cash receipts and coding invoices
  • Provide accounting guidance to non-accounting staff and other duties as requested by management.
  • Annual duties

o Prepare tangible personal business property tax returns
o Prepare excise motor fuel tax
o Provide main tactical support for annual financial audit and insurance auditQualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in accounting
  • Strong understanding of double entry accounting
  • Strong understanding of job costing (construction industry preferred will consider manufacturing cost experience)
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot, V lookup, Sumif, filters, etc.)
  • Self-starter with ability to work efficiently with little direct supervision
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement, make recommendations, and implement
  • Ability to work in a lean environment which will require performing tasks unrelated to accounting
  • CPA a plus
  • Audit experience a plus
  • Construction Industry preferred
  • Spectrum accounting system a plus
