Apex Systems is seeking a Threat Requirements Engineer to join our team and support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures Program Office. This is a high-impact role where you will transform intelligence into actionable requirements, guiding the development of advanced target systems for missile defense testing. If you excel at solving complex engineering challenges and want to influence national security, this is your opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Apply physics and engineering principles to aerospace systems, propulsion, aerodynamics, and guidance to recommend target configurations and technologies.
  • Translate intelligence reports on ballistic and hypersonic adversary systems into actionable requirements for target development.
  • Capture and write flight test, target, and countermeasure requirements for government review.
  • Frame countermeasure technology requirements for flight testing and negotiate solutions across multiple stakeholders.
  • Support Targets Program Office Systems Engineering activities and collaborate with MDA teams, contractors, and other government agencies.
  • Ensure requirements flow down and verify compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

What You Bring

  • Education & Experience:Master’s degree in STEM with 12 years in missile defense or large DoD programs.

  • Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance.

  • Technical Expertise:Familiarity with MDA/DoD programs and processes.

  • Ability to interpret missile and space intelligence reports.

  • Strong communication skills for presenting to senior leaders and technical communities.

  • Experience writing and coordinating engineering plans, policies, and requirements.

  • Understanding of system interface requirements and configuration-controlled environments.

  • Ability to work independently or lead teams.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MDA systems engineering processes.
  • Experience with technical proposal development and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
