FamilySearch Social Media Content Creator – Paid Internship

Lehi, UT, United States (Híbrido)

Job Description Ready to tell stories that matter? Join our fun, tight-knit team creating social media content that connects millions of people to their family history and heritage. We’re looking for a creative storyteller who can find the heart in every story and turn it into scroll-stopping content.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Compensation: $17-$20/hour depending on experience
  • Duration: 3-month internship with possibility of extension
  • Commitment: 12 hours per week with flexible scheduling
  • Location: Utah preferred; hybrid (in-person/remote) work environment
  • Equipment: Your phone (we provide microphones!)

Responsibilities

  • Story Discovery & Creation (Primary Focus): Spend 12 hours per week discovering authentic stories at the FamilySearch Library, local FamilySearch Centers, institutes, and through your personal network
  • Conduct interviews that make people comfortable to share their most meaningful family stories and connections
  • Create 3-5 pieces of content per week tailored to different audiences
  • Transform raw footage into polished social media content using CapCut and Canva
  • Translate complex FamilySearch features into engaging, easy-to-understand content that clearly communicates value
  • Stay ahead of social media trends and create content that leverages trending formats, sounds, and styles while remaining on-brand
  • Identify and connect with influencers in the genealogy, family history, and lifestyle spaces; pitch and coordinate collaboration opportunities
  • Brainstorm creative content ideas and campaign concepts with the team
  • Create and manage content calendars and tracking spreadsheets to monitor channel and post growth
  • Meet weekly deadlines and work effectively under pressure while maintaining content quality

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in college or recent graduate (within one year of graduation)
  • Passion for family history and connecting people to their heritage
  • Strong interviewing skills with ability to make people comfortable and draw out authentic, emotional stories
  • Eye for visual storytelling with ability to identify and incorporate compelling visuals into engaging content
  • Strong writing skills with ability to craft compelling captions, scripts, and copy
  • Demonstrate ability to simplify complex information into digestible social media content
  • Proven track record of creating trend-aware content (portfolio required—please provide 2-3 examples)
  • Proficiency in CapCut and Canva for video editing and graphic design
  • Excellent communicator and people person who thrives connecting with diverse individuals
  • Process and deadline-driven with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Own smartphone capable of shooting quality video content

Preferred

  • Experience in social media management and metrics tracking
  • Experience reaching out to and collaborating with influencers or content creators
