Job Title: Senior Power BI Developer Banking & Finance

Location CHARLOTTE NC ***On-Site**Duration: 24** Months

Role Type: W2 Contract Engagement

Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer with expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing business intelligence solutions to support data-driven decision-making in the banking and finance domain. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of financial data, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements, coupled with advanced technical skills in Power BI , data modeling , and SQL.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models tailored to banking and finance business needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and translate complex financial metrics into clear, actionable visualizations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across reporting solutions, complying with financial regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Optimize performance of Power BI solutions, including DAX calculations, query tuning, and efficient data modeling practices.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including core banking systems, financial applications, and enterprise data warehouses.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and best practices for junior developers and business users.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, finance, and IT teams to deliver reporting solutions that support regulatory reporting, risk management, and financial analysis.
  • Stay up to date with emerging BI tools, cloud platforms (Azure, SQL Server), and data visualization practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as a Power BI Developer , with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Strong expertise in Power BI , DAX , Power Query (M) , and data modeling (star schema, snowflake).
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
  • Experience working with banking and finance data (loans, deposits, credit risk, regulatory reporting, financial statements).
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, SOX, GDPR).
  • Advanced knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, and performance tuning.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field (Master s preferred).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) or other cloud BI ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of machine learning or predictive analytics in a financial context.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies for BI project delivery.
