Full time – Personal Care Assistant Teacher Aide (PCA)
- Must have met a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a State or Local Assessment.4. Such alternative to the above as the Board may find appropriate and AcceptableREPORTS TO: Building Principal and/ or designeeJOB GOAL: Assure that student needs are addressed under the direction of the professional provider per the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in order to enable a student access to his/her educational program.Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist students with daily living activities as associated with medically related needs, (ex. toileting, feeding, navigating the building).2. Be vigilant of student’s physical, personal (including feeding and toileting), and emotional needs while in the school environment.3. Participate in activities where the student’s special needs consisting of guidance, assistance with mobility, and/ or supervision for safety reasons, ( ex. cafeteria, playground bussing, field trips, etc.).4. Reinforce that safety and hygiene protocol are followed while in the school environment.5. Assure required certifications are updated annually, i.e. CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention.6. Execute safety measures when necessary using certifications required as part of the job responsibilities.7. Participate in 20 hours of para professional training required by Pennsylvania Department of Education to maintain Highly Qualified Para Professional (HQ) status.8. Assist the student by tending to individual, personal needs while in the regular or special education classroom environment to help the student gain access to his/her education.9. Attend training specifically to learn how to appropriately implement and assist students with their daily activities.10. Implement student daily therapeutic activity plans as directed by speech, physical, occupational therapists as well as teachers.11. Seek direction from a professional provider to assure that a student’s daily therapeutic activities are being implemented and monitored appropriately.12. Assist in the exiting or evaluation of special students in emergency and/or drill situations.13. Assist with the operation of assistive devices for special needs students (ex. Communication technology, writing technology, physical and occupation a therapy devises).14. Attend annual trainings provided by the district or other service agencies to learn of reporting requirements when participating in reimbursement programs for the provision of medically related services to eligible special education students.15.
