Senior Care Advocate
Optum Health, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Senior Care Advocate to join our team in San Diego, CA. As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care team, you’ll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone.Responsible for performing Senior Care Advocate responsibilities and assisting staff by answering operational questions and providing resolution to issues. This position serves as a subject matter expert for the team.The hours for this position is Wednesday – Saturday 7pm – 5:30am PSTYou’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical services to ACL consumers to include crisis intervention, clinical screenings, support, information, referrals, processes authorizations for crisis residential, residential treatment facilities and inpatient hospitals.
- Serve as a role model for our Clinical Pillars and Corporate Culture Values.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the ACL operations.
- Provide oversight of resource needs and assist in adjusting the workload appropriately.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, has ability to inform supervisor and manager of any management issues.
- Conduct quality assurance activities and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them.
- Train and guide staff on reviews and new changes.
- Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Provide explanations and information to others as needed.
- May lead team projects and tasks assigned by a supervisor. For example, Data Collection, Medical Record Review Workflow, Afterhours Queue
- Monitoring and preparation for audits/accreditation.
- Use of technological systems to support management of services.
- Requires access to Electronic Health Record (EHR) which includes Protected Health Information.
- Adhere to pertinent HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Adapt to changes and maintain flexibility as processes and policies are implemented to ensure compliance and quality standards.

- California registered psychiatric nurse or California licensed mental health professional (LMFT, LCSW, RN, LPCC, PsyD, PhD)
- 5 years providing direct clinical care in behavioral health, treatment setting with emphasis on crisis intervention
Community mental health and/or Public Sector and Medi-Cal or Medicaid experiencePreferred Qualifications:
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) for suicide prevention
- Inpatient experience
- Managed Care experience
- Knowledge of the system of care in San Diego

The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment.
