About the Firm:

Martorell Law APC is a full-service litigation firm established in 2017. We are a dynamic, fast-paced litigation group with a collaborative atmosphere, specializing in litigation in the areas of entertainment, employment, business, and personal injury law. We are looking for someone who is not only a team player but also confident working independently — driven, eager to contribute, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Part-Time Evening Legal Assistant to support our growing litigation practice. The role is ideal for someone with 1–4 years of litigation experience and who is comfortable formatting and filing documents in both State and Federal courts. The position requires someone who can work well independently, stay focused during evening hours, and help ensure all deadlines are met.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time evening position with a great deal of flexibility, meaning the position is adaptable to the candidate’s schedule. It may be fixed (e.g. 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday through Friday), or it may be adapted to what works best with the candidate, however, the candidate needs to be available from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm regularly for evening filings, Monday through Friday, and available from 9:00 pm to midnight occasionally with 24-hours’ notice. The role is fully remote, with the candidate having the ability to come into the office if the candidate chooses to do so. Onboarding and training support will be provided as needed.

While consistency is important, we value flexibility. The ideal candidate can adjust hours slightly when needed, and we offer flexibility in return during lighter periods. Additional hours may occasionally be offered during trial preparation or heavy deadline periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Format, finalize, and electronically file pleadings in State and Federal courts
  • Draft shells for pleadings and discovery, and prepare simple pleadings and forms under attorney supervision
  • Assist with drafting basic discovery responses and legal correspondence as directed
  • Schedule calls, meetings, and events (including depositions) with clients, opposing counsel, and legal service providers, and add relevant details to the shared calendar
  • Reserve hearing dates for motions and confirm availability with the court as needed
  • Save incoming documents and invoices to the correct server folders and upload invoices into TABS billing software
  • Complete other legal administrative and litigation support tasks as assigned by attorneys and the Office Manager

Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years of litigation experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction, multitask, prioritize, and adapt to shifting priorities in a busy environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and court e-filing systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying accountable
  • Reliable availability to work evening hours (5:00–9:00 p.m.) on a consistent basis

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
  • Fully remote evening schedule
  • Opportunity for growth within the firm and potential to transition into expanded hours or responsibilities over time
  • Collaborative work environment with meaningful, hands-on litigation experience
