Requirements
Must have:
– U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance and program access required prior to commencement. – A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development for space systems and ground segments that perform command, control, mission planning, and data processing. – At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role within a software development or product deployment team. – A minimum of 3 years of experience in DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, configuration management, security analysis, and cloud computing, preferably with AWS Cloud. – Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab, Java, C, or C++, along with strong capabilities in object-oriented design, development, and microservices architecture.
Responsibilities:
- I manage a team of software engineers and contribute to the creation and development of advanced ground systems software solutions for complex, real-time, mission-critical systems. – I oversee software design, development, integration, testing, and deployment using tools like GitLab, Jira, and best practices in CI/CD. – I provide technical oversight during the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and security standards. – I supervise software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, ensuring that mitigation actions are integrated and implemented throughout the software lifecycle. – I monitor and review the completion of software integration and testing (SWIT), verification processes, and resolution of software issues. – I ensure that software peer and code reviews, design reviews, and technical exchanges align with project plans and industry standards. – I handle hiring and staffing to satisfy project demands. This role is expected to be 100% onsite, requiring work at one of the specified locations.

We are currently looking for an Advanced Ground Architecture (AGA) Senior Software Manager to join our Space Mission Systems Software Engineering team located in Seal Beach, California, Herndon, Virginia, or Mesa, Arizona. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization. We are seeking an experienced Ground Software Manager to lead a team of approximately 25 members across various sites in creating next-generation ground systems. In this role, you will assist the Senior Program Manager and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader in advancing the IPT’s vision, collaborating closely with software engineering, systems engineering, and program management to deliver high-value capabilities. You will ensure compliance with Boeing Software Best Practices, Enterprise Software Engineering policies, and BDS requirements, while also supporting the Cost Account Manager and contributing to new proposals. An ideal candidate possesses a robust background in the complete software development lifecycle within the ground software ecosystem, demonstrates technical leadership, and acts as an engaging and motivating people manager. Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), CI/CD environments, automated testing, and quality scanning is critical. You will excel in a fast-paced setting, utilizing critical thinking, hands-on troubleshooting, and sound judgment to foster engineering excellence and team success. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the IPT are essential for this role.
