Description: Our client is currently seeking a OSP ENGINEER – I

JOB TITLE: Outside Plant Engineer – DESIGN Hi-CAP/FTTP – Long Island NY

HYBRID MODEL: Minimum of 2-3 days a week in office.

ENGINEER -This individual is a Telecommunications Professional and must be capable of engineering routine and specific outside plant work orders, for BAU and HICAP Services. Must be capable of providing administrative and field support to the outside plant work forces. 5-7 years of experience

JOB DUTIES:

This position is for an Outside Plant Engineer (OSP) to work in Long Island NY. The LI Design engineer’s handle multiple wire centers and the candidate must be familiar with how to survey and design copper and fiber jobs to include subsurface and aerial designs. Engineering prints will have to be issued in ICGS and sent to our Construction team for them to build. Site Surveys are required throughout the footprint when needed.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

  1. Excellent Communications skills.

  2. Understand Outside Plant terminology, equipment and facilities with minimum of 3 year of design experience.

  3. Must create prints in ICGS/IDDS for handoff to our Construction team.

  4. Must know how to conduct detailed Site Surveys for copper/fiber/pole jobs.

  5. Understand how to design FTTC/FTTP requests and is able to design with both conventional and VATS cables.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  1. A former Verizon OSP Engineer who can design in ICGS all FiOS/HiCAP jobs.

  2. Understand the OSP aerial and underground plant.

  3. Understand FIM, iVAPP, vBuild, NTAS, CCP, CANVAS and any other OSPE database.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor?s degree in a technical field would be desirable.

The work day is 8:00 to 5:00 but it could start at 7:30. Occasional out of hour work may be required due to contingency issues. This is not a remote job; required to be in the office and in the field as needed. Office is on a HYBRID schedule but needs of the business will dictate schedule.
