DPP is seeking a Senior Software Safety Engineer for an opportunity in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Work arrangement:

  • Onsite in Indianapolis, IN.
  • W2 position, 12 months

Position description:

  • The Senior Software Safety Engineer in Aerospace Controls collaborates with other teams and customers to develop electrical, electronics and mechatronics control system safety work products such as: System Safety and Reliability Assessment, Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) or Common Cause Analysis (CCA)
  • Works with a cross-functional team to establish the highest standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Provides and supports engineering and process guidance, training and creates documentation
  • Prepares and reviews engineering work products for technical documentation, quality, completeness
  • Resolves complex problems through the application of acquired technical experience and knowledge
  • Develops and communicates complex technical ideas and information in a concise and logical way

Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 5+ years of product development engineering experience
  • Experience with aerospace safety certification

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • 5+ years of product safety engineering experience
  • Software development or system safety analysis
  • Application of agile development methods to deliver engineering work products
  • Experience with military qualification and/or FAA certification of airborne systems
  • Familiarity with the one or more of the following standards: ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1629, DO-178C, DO-254, AMCOM 385 and IEE 1633-2016
  • Gas turbine engine, propulsion, or electrical control system experience
  • Demonstrated experience with control system design and one or more of the following tools: Fault Tree+, Reliability Workbench, DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, and robust design tools and techniques coupled with the latest model-centric development approaches
