About The Role The Category Data Analyst will play a vital role within our procurement team, supporting the Global Category Manager for Resins and Plastics. This position involves managing sourcing activities, cultivating supplier relationships, and spearheading cost optimization initiatives. The role requires expertise in data analysis, market intelligence, and reporting to facilitate fact-based decision-making and strategic category management across our global operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing purchasing and market data, monitoring raw material trends, and supporting sourcing strategies that align with our organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, finance, or data analysis (internships or co-ops considered)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or Tableau preferred
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QAD
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of supporting global stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Business and financial acumen with a focus on data-driven decision making
  • Strong collaboration skills across global and cross-functional teams
  • Problem-solving mindset and continuous improvement orientation

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret purchasing and market data including pricing, volume, and supplier performance
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations to support category strategies and provide updates to executive leadership
  • Ensure data accuracy within procurement systems such as SAP or other ERP tools
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and mitigate supply risks
  • Monitor market trends in resins and plastics, including raw material pricing, supply/demand shifts, and global trade impacts
  • Benchmark suppliers and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure supplier performance aligns with organizational standards
  • Assist in developing and executing sourcing strategies for resins and plastics
  • Support supplier negotiations through data preparation, cost analysis, and scenario modeling
  • Maintain comprehensive supplier databases, contracts, and performance scorecards
  • Support sustainability and compliance initiatives within the supply base to promote responsible sourcing
