CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK

Under general supervision, develops, coordinates, and conducts health education programs for Family Health Centers (FHC).

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK (These statements are intended to be illustrations of the work of this class.)

Implements and conducts health education programs, training programs, lectures, and classes on a variety of topics for participants of various ages.

Transports equipment and training materials to various sites.

Researches and develops new health education programs and materials.

Researches, evaluates, and recommends revisions to existing health education programs and materials.

Collaborates with FHC departments, community partners, and contractors to maintain health education programs.

Recruits participants for health education programs.

Tracks program participant data to create reports.

Maintains FHC’s resource library of books, publications, and audiovisual materials.

Prepares health education literature and information for distribution to various parties.

Serves as a resource to community groups and other agencies about health education programs and services.

Performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, or a closely related field.

Two years of experience conducting health education and training programs.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted as determined applicable by Civil Service.

PHYSICAL REOUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Responds to patient and Family Health Centers’ needs via the telephone, internet, fax, computer software and in person.

Moves and/or lifts materials weighing up to 30 lbs.

Special Requirements Must provide own transportation to work at other locations as needed.

Must be available to work a varied schedule.
