Senior Financial Analyst – Global WAM – Private Markets
The WAM Accounting & Reporting team is primarily responsible for the ledger close process and the accounting, analysis, and financial reporting results of Manulife’s Legal Entity Reporting (LER) subsidiaries. The LER team focuses on performing the legal entity controllership function for a growing number of subsidiaries, limited partnerships and equity accounted investments relating to alternative asset classes.Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst is expected to perform analysis & reporting of subsidiaries financial statements, the preparation of board reports, perform regulatory reporting requirements, revenue & billing, and support the LER team on all external audit activities.Position Responsibilities: Lead the monthly/quarterly preparation of financial statements, CFO and Board of Directors reporting packages, and disclosures for a number of US and Canadian subsidiariesOversight of financial statement preparation and coordination of annual external audits for US and Canadian subsidiariesRevenue & billing for Private MarketsPrepare/Review journal entries (manual or system-driven), oversee invoice process, and monitor trending for intercompany and third-party clients. including review or trending for accuracy and completenessReview and prepare journal entries from Partner Capital Account Statements (PCAPs) for private market general partners and limited partnersReview/approve wire requests for routine and non-routine intercompany payments and third-party transactionsAssist with carried interest dashboard and accrualsProvide prompt and accurate service to setup and evaluate the financial reporting implications of new products and initiativesPrepare memos and supporting documentation for accounting policy changes and dividend projections and communicate to all stakeholdersRequired Qualifications: University Business Degree and working towards a CPA designationGeneral understanding of IFRS and US GAAP3 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial services and/or consulting firm with experience in the public and private investment management industry reporting would be an assetExperience with financial reporting tools such as Infor/Lawson, Oracle Smart View, accounting units (1Stop, 1Exp, EPO, 1KFM) and cost centers a strong plusProactive and effective at meeting tight deadlines, multitasking, and adapting to changesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independentlyAdvanced level of proficiency in MS Excel and other MS office tools (e.g. Word and PowerPoint to develop reports, documents and presentations)Energetic and having strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalWhen you join our team:We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you wantWe’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just wordsAs part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to seeAbout Manulife and John HancockManulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, helping people make their decisions easier and lives better.
