A/C & REFRIGERATION MECHANIC APPRENTICE
POSITION GOALTo perform in a responsible and accurate manner semiskilled work under the supervision of a skilled journey trades employee and all tasks geared to improving the skill and proficiency of the apprentice with the ultimate promotion to a journey trades classification.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
- Certificate of Competency Requirements – Prior to being reclassified from Apprentice to Craftsman, effective July 1, 1993, all apprentice graduates from the Broward County School Board and/or other similar curriculum must comply with the State of Florida respective craft certificate of competency. Apprentice graduates from other than the State of Florida programs shall be required to obtain a certificate of competency prior to employment or within the six-month grace period for their respective craft.
- Must pass aptitude test administered by the Florida State Employment Service, (Job Service of Florida) prior to interview.
- Must have a desire to learn the trade and possess the ambition to advance to a journey status after proper training, outside schooling and diligent application on the job.
- Must provide own hand tools.
- Must have a proper Florida commercial driver’s license with endorsements compatible with the assigned duties of The School Board
- of Broward County, Florida.
- This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
